(AP)- A new study shows how important it is for men to carefully consider treatments for early-stage prostate cancer.
?Researchers found that 15 years after surgery or radiation treatment, nearly all of the older men in the study had some problems having sex and many had bladder or bowel trouble.
The study is not a rigorous test of these treatments but it is the longest follow-up of about 1,000 men who chose them.
Doctors say men need to have frank talks with their doctors about any treatment they choose and possible side effects.
The study appears in this week's New England Journal of Medicine.
