Libra Woman and Aries Man Compatibility

In these days, we have to watch out and be practical about who we deal with, make friends with and most especially, choose with whom we want to spend our entire lives. Compatibility is important and the way we interact and relate to one another is a vital aspect in ensuring a lasting, honest and sincere relationship.

A combination that is always touted as a great combination is the Libran woman and the Aries man. Compatible as complementary signs, the Aries man and his passions are well balanced by the Libran woman?s propensity for grace and femininity. Here are quick scenarios on what you may expect from a union between a Libran female and Aries male in different situations.

For love: This is one of the most compatible romantic relationships of the zodiac. Passionate and driven, the Aries man loves to play knight in shining armor, and the Libran is only too happy to bask in the admiration. She returns the favor by indulging him with flattery, but with no traces of deceit as she also values openness and honesty as much as the Aries man. There is a good chance for a lasting relationship between these two signs. It may be that these two will settle into a long-term affinity because both of them have been around and already know what they are looking for. For friendship:

As friends, the Libran woman and the Aries man are more activity-based than going for long conversations and closeness. They are compatible adventure-partners, Aries being the thrill hunter and Libra always enjoying going along for the ride. Any intimacy between these two signs will flourish into a relationship. As friends, they are devoid of sentimentality, but rather respect each other as equals and companions. Though they don?t go in for long, deep conversations, they are both intelligent speakers and don?t bore each other. They have a wide variety of topics to discuss and appreciate a friendly argument now and then.

For business: On a purely business level, the Aries man would have a hard time coping with the indecisiveness of the Libran woman. The Libran also has a preference for peace and harmony while the Aries always wants to pick a fight and go for the competition. His passionate drive for success may be irritating to the Libran, but this can be tempered if the Libran chooses and learns to go around his enthusiasm with her feminine charm. A business partnership may or may not go well between these two signs, depending on the ability of the Aries man to be able to control his temper and the Libran to be able to get past his relentless drive. For pleasure:

The Libran woman will very much enjoy the Aries? need to take the lead in a physical relationship. If she understands this in her Aries man, the Libran will find him to be capable of passion, tenderness and even affection. Aries is extremely masculine and Libra extremely feminine and together, their lovemaking is the kind that fuels many romantic stories and novels.

Antares ATG-6 brings auto-tune to the guitar, can't retroactively save Lil' Wayne's SNL solo

Antares ain't the first company to provide individual control to each string on a guitar (hello, Roland!), but the outfit's new ATG-6 technology takes things one step closer to being acceptable by the mainstream. Rather than forcing users to process separate string signals via an external device, this here rendition aims to tuck everything within the body. In the demo just past the break, a Seymour Duncan HEX pickup is used, and while it's connected via a MIDI cable, it's most certainly not a MIDI guitar -- that's strictly used for control. It's also worth pointing out a key quote from Antares product manager Max Mobley -- he's using a $99 guitar "with about $40,000 worth of technology inside of it," giving us the impression that this is nowhere near mass commercialization.

Rather than using auto-tune to utterly destroy the genuineness of music (and produce one of the most hilarious Bud Light commercials to date), these axes are hoping to provide legitimate guitarists with added functionality; things like flawless intonation and bolstered tonal flexibility. The system is reportedly capable of constantly monitoring the pitch of each individual string to ensure that every riff and lick is in tune, but it's smart enough to back off when you want to manually manipulate things. We're told to hang tight for more details, but for now, we'd invite you to have a glance at the company's current progress (and a brutal flashback from 2008) below.

Dark-Readers: Book Review: Divergent By Veronica Roth

Name: Divergent
Author: Veronice Roth
Publishers: HarperCollins Children's Books

Summary: In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue?Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is?she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series?dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

Lately, I have noticed that Dystopian reads have been hitting the young adult shelves like crazy. And after reading books like The Hunger Games Series, I had to pick up a few more novels in this genre. What does Dystopian mean? Well, below is a quick definition:
?????????????
?Dystopian is a fictional society; when the conditions of life are?? extremely bad due to deprivation, oppression, or terror. In most dystopian fiction, a corrupt government creates or sustains the poor quality of life, often conditioning the masses to believe the society is proper and just, even perfect.
The above is a perfect example of the society in Divergent. At the age of 16, Beatrice is made to choose one of the five factions (a group/society) that the city of Chicago is divided into. Each faction having a their own distinct rules and identity. While reading I couldn't help but wonder which faction I would belong to? On Veronica Roth's blog she explains the first 100 pages of Divergent including a definition for each faction. I put a quick summary of her blog post below:

DAUNTLESS: fearless, undaunted (courageously resolute in the face of danger/difficulty).
ABNEGATION: .to refuse or deny oneself (some rights, conveniences, etc.); reject; renounce.
ERUDITE: characterized by great knowledge; learned or scholarly
CANDOR: the state or quality of being frank, open, and sincere in speech or expression; candidness.
AMITY: friendship; peaceful harmony. mutual understanding and a peaceful relationship, especially between nations; peace; accord.

After reading Divergent I couldn't come to a conclusion of which faction I would choose; but two that I would best be fit for: Candor & Dauntless - honest & brave. Say what's on my mind & a little bit of a daredevil! lol
So, which faction would you be in?
The characters in Divergent are written incredibly well, not to mention I fell in love with a few (who can't love Beatrice & Four ;-) ) I was very impressed. Each character belongs to a different faction, and it was very easy to tell by the way the character talks to one another & their actions which faction they belonged to. Or in some cases which faction they are in but don't necessarily belong there. This isn't always easy to do, and each character had a distinct voice.

One of my favorites parts to this book is that I believe the author, Veronica takes a very relate-able topic, and makes it into this adrenaline filled novel. Beatrice has to make the ultimate choice, continue to be in a faction with her family or chose a faction that best fits her personality. We all have to develop a sense of self: who are we? who we hang around? What do we want out of life? And maybe those things aren't exactly what our parents or family would choose for us or even be a part of. All in all, the messages are clear, you just have to think a little (which I love about books- everyone can take from it what they want). I have never taken so many notes on my Nook before.

Overall, the WOW factor & excitement of Divergent is over the top! This book was a page turner no doubt and will keep you up into the wee hours of the night. I can't wait for the next book- the ending was a bit tortuous I will say- leaves the reader with a bit of a cliff hanger ;-)? ***** Five of Five Stars

Gratitude Can Be Expressed Daily In Simple Ways

I want to set the record straight. In the past I've written about keeping a gratitude journal. Now that I reflect back on my suggestion, maybe referring to capturing what we are grateful for in a gratitude journal caused fear, rather than positive feelings. A journal implies writing, and that's pretty scary for some people. But as each of us is unique, capturing our gratitude should not be a struggle, but a joyful sharing of what we are grateful for and expressed in ways that are comfortable for each of us.

We can be grateful for simple things and express our gratitude in simple ways.

Maybe as a senior we are grateful for the sounds of children playing on a nearby school playground, since it brings back childhood memories. Our gratitude for that day could be to write or call an old school chum that we haven't spoken to in years. We don't have to sit down and write haiku poetry.

Another gratitude may be the smile of someone sitting across from us at the breakfast table. We could just express our gratitude that day by leaning over, touching them and telling them how much they mean to us, how much we value them. We don't have to write a 400 word essay.

Or we could be grateful for finally organizing that sweater drawer. We now have more space and have given the gift of warmth to someone else. We don't have to clean out our entire closet, just sharing love and warmth from our sweater drawer is enough for one day.

It's fun to surprise someone with a note of gratitude. Imagine the smile growing across your friend's face when they find a note you smuggled into his or her notebook, telling them how grateful you are for all the times they went above and beyond to help you out. Just a simple note will suffice. You don't have to create a YouTube video, although you could.

Maybe someone in your life is down and a simple song that you sing to them such as "You light up my life" will be your expression of gratitude to them for that day. Far too often we feel gratitude inside but find it hard to share or express it. People need to hear from us that they matter.

Too often we float through life and don't set an intention for being grateful.

Being grateful does not happen often enough. At times we'll express our thanks but it is rushed or buried in a conversation. Expressing our gratitude truly happens when we are intentional about it, when we strive to find something each and every day to be grateful for and express that gratitude.

Some may say that doing so every day is artificial, it is contrived. I say if you can't think of at least one thing to be grateful for and express it each and every day, then are you really not connecting with people, you are on autopilot.

For some, if you live alone you may find it more difficult to express your gratitude, but these thoughts are in your heart, let them out, even if just writing daily in that journal. It is my hope that each and every one of us can start the chain of connecting one to another through the expression of gratitude. All it takes is simple words accompanied by a touch, a look, a song, a note, or maybe even a daily entry in a gratitude journal.

Optimizing your e-Commerce Site All Search Engines ...

Search engine optimization is a requirement for any website that plans to get organic search engine traffic. E-commerce backed sites already have different advertising methods set up. But, this does not mean that they should not leverage search engines to get more people to see them. However, it appears that either people with e-commerce websites are either unknowledgeable when it comes to SEO or they are not paying enough attention to it. In order to really benefit from SEO for your website, you have to remember a few things. The purpose of this article is to aid your e-commerce site get the most traffic from search engines.

Concentrating on both on-page and off-page search engine optimization will help your e-commerce website to rank for specific keywords. You can?t ignore either of them. If it is that important to get your website material optimized, then it will also be vital to get particular backlinks that are related to your website materials. Plenty of web owners seem to think that if they want to get on the first page, they only have to concentrate on SEO that is off-page. This assumption is false. Even though growing a list of backlinks is required, you must also utilize all of the necessary tags and make sure your material is different.

If you have a lot of pages on your site, find out which one of them is essential. When you focus more on a certain page, you can get a higher page ranking for that certain page. The pages that you do not want to get indexed should have a robot.txt added to them. Basically, this indicates to the search engine spiders that they do not have to crawl these pages. When this is done, you will instantly get more value for the pages that lack the robots.txt.

Focus on making sure that the product feeds for your e-commerce website are used to your advantage. If you must absolutely have an example, then use Google Base. Applying this application means you can upload an XML product feed, which will let you show your products via Google Base. This will not only help you to bond more with your targeted market, but it will make your website seen by more people. Utilizing the search engines the proper way means that you should know a few basics and understand how to leverage them to your advantage.

If you really choose to utilize SEO with your e-commerce website, it will not be that big of a hassle. Your website is no different than any other website. This means that to get your website high up in the search engine rankings, it will not happen overnight. So begin applying this information and starting boosting your website to the next level. This is because the search engines can provide the best traffic there is.

Baldwin And Poehler Address Harvard Graduates

2 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news ?

Alec Baldwin and Amy Poehler delighted Harvard students this week (beg23May11) by addressing them during their graduation ceremonies.

The pair was chosen to help fete the class of 2011 at the famed Massachusetts school, and state native Poehler couldn't help but make jokes about her own education in Boston during her speech on Wednesday, telling the pupils, "Just because you?re wicked smart doesn?t mean you?re better than me. I graduated from BC (Boston College): ?The Harvard of Boston.? Though we all know, Harvard is the Harvard of Harvard.?

She also poked fun at famous Harvard graduate Mark Zuckerberg and his legal battle with the Winklevoss twins, which was depicted in The Social Network movie, adding, "(Harvard is) filled with people who get rich by inventing things, and people who get rich suing the people who invented things.?

Baldwin also kept his speech light-hearted, but ended on a serious not by urging the students not to squander their prospects, according to the Boston Herald.

He said, "This country needs your help. You have the tools to change lives. There?s no limit to what you can do. Better people?s lives or liberate your countrymen. You have the power. Use it not just to do good, but to bring morality to the law... As I?ve grown older, I believe I would trade what I have for what you will have tomorrow afternoon.?

The Real Meaning of Customer Service

By: Stephen Milford

Comments: [1]

What is customer service? Have you ever stopped to really think about this question? We have trained literally thousands of people and hundreds of organisations in customer service. No matter who the person or what the organisation, the answer to this question is always generic. They will say: ?Customer service is about giving customers what they want? or perhaps ?it?s about satisfying customers? some times they will say that it is about ?making customers happy.?

While at first glance these answers may sound correct, nothing could be further from the truth. Say for example that you ran a restaurant. If a customer were to enter your restaurant and ask for some office supplies would you be able to give the customer what they want? Would you be able to satisfy a customer who was looking for some jewellery if you worked in a hardware store? No, it would be impossible. The best that you could do would be to politely tell the customer where they can go and get Jewry. Obviously, customer service is not about giving customers what they want, or even satisfying customers.

The same is true for the way we give customer service. When we ask the question: what is the most important thing for good customer service, almost everyone we ask will answer: smile. While this may be good in some cases it is not appropriate in all cases. Just imagine if a distressed mother came up to you and told you that she had lost her 2 year old child in your store. Imagine how she would respond if you were to smile at her? Or imagine if a customer told you that he/she slipped while climbing the stairs or escalator in your store and as they explained their excruciating injuries you smiled back at them.

Customer Service Principles
Is it Time to Re-evaluate How Effective Your Customer Service Really Is?
Outsourcing helps a leading utilities company deliver superior customer service

The truth is that customer service is not about practicalities, it?s about principles. The practicalities may change but the principles stay the same. Staff are not meant to smile all the time, to give customers everything they want, or to satisfy all their needs. Staff are meant to promote the organisation and its values. If you want to increase the impact of your customer service teach staff to represent your organisation and its unique traits.

When we teach customer service training modules we first focus on what the organisation values, what it?s all about and what does it want customers to see. Once we have done this, we move on to how to serve in light of these values. This is a very easy way of getting staff to change the way they serve, it produces better results and is a lot more fun to teach.

Here is something you can do to help your staff engage in effective customer service. Take a black/white board and draw a very basic house. Ask staff to take a piece of chalk or the white board marker and to take turns to turn this basic house into your organisation/company. They may add pictures or words to the basic drawing. Some will add words like: quality, professionalism, friendliness, service, money, speed, or simplicity while others may draw things like customers and staff.

Now ask staff this simple question: in light of this picture, what does a good customer service representative do? The participants will now find it easy to see what customer service is really about in your organisation. They may say for example, in light of us being a friendly company we should smile. Or perhaps they will highlight the organisation?s professionalism and explain that it?s professional to stand up straight and to dress appropriately.

Instead of teaching staff practicalities teach them principles and the practicalities will follow naturally.

We have a free, 2 hour course which you can download and run with your staff to help them improve their customer service, just visit www.griffin.ie.

Diane Tegarden ? Anti-Vigilante and The Rips in Time : Selling Books

by Cathy B Stucker

What is your most recent book? Tell us a bit about it.

Anti-Vigilante and the Rips in Time is a science fiction novel set in the distant future with its hooks deep into renewable energy that changes the face of the planet. Terrax, the Crystal Planet, is an exacting world. A place where human physical contact is impossible and stepping outside is virtual suicide. The atmosphere is a hurricane of Coriolis winds and deadly scattershowers, composed of toxic metals formed into whip-like threads kilometers long. Immense Ocean Domes cover over the toxic sludge where the oceans used to be, and the surface of Terrax is covered in crystalline structures, called the Hives, where only the upper crust lives. No one can survive the raw elements; all must reside inside buildings, vicariously living through virtual reality programming.

Tell us something about yourself.

I?m a freelance writer living in Pasadena, with my husband and three cats. I?ve been a print journalist since 1992, writing on a wide range of subjects including; renewable energy, environmental concerns, holistic health, women?s issues, and Native Spirituality. My work has been found in: The Pasadena Star News, Security Sales Magazine, The Pasadena Weekly, The Solar Flare, The Feral Forest, Earth Luvyrs Calendar, The Daily Sundial, the West Coast Well Being, Associated Content and Health Breakthroughs. For fun, I like to play with my cats, grow flowers, trees and veggies, do crossword puzzles, read, watch movies and write poetry.

What inspired you to write this book?

I?ve been an environmental journalist since 1995, writing about the problems and solutions to our planet?s current environmental state, but too many people are simply numb from the bad news and can?t ?hear? any more about why we should change doing ?business as usual.? So, I thought?.fine?don?t change a thing, and this future I foresee is the world we?ll be stuck living in! Many people who have read the book tell me ?I wouldn?t want to live in that world? and I finally feel like I?ve accomplished my goal. Besides, I wanted to see if I could write a long story involving the past and future, about the physics of the rips in time, and create another world, with its own language, people economy and ecology.

How did you choose the title?

I wanted to create a question in the reader?s minds?what are the rips in time? Who is Anti-Vigilante?

What obstacles did you encounter in getting this book published? How did you overcome them?

I created my own publishing company and published it in 2008, but I?ve had a slow start at the promotion catching on!

How did you know you wanted to be a writer? How did you get started?

I?ve written everything you can think of from an early age: card verses for my handmade birthday and Christmas cards, reports and essays, poetry, jingles for the radio, short stories, newspaper and magazine articles, songs, online content and now, books. I can?t remember a time when I didn?t enjoy writing.

Do you have any writing rituals?

I write at restaurants, parks, in the living room, out in the backyard, in my office, whenever the ideas flow, you?ll find me with pen and paper in hand. I don?t compose much on the computer, I?d rather either hand write the original or dictate it into my Dragon Naturally Speaking software (although I like the Via Voice software much better!)

How do you come up with the names for your characters?

I?ve used place names from old geography books, strange names I?ve heard (but I break up the first and last name and match it with another name to create a unique name), in some cases I even name people after renewable energy technology or famous RE sites.

Did you learn anything from writing and publishing this book? What?

I learned that I?m lousy at publicity/promotion/sales!

What types of books do you like to read?

sci-fi, biography, autobiography, plays, renewable energy tech books, etymology, books of plays, mythology and fantasy? (I read a lot)

Who are your favorite authors?

Lois McMaster Bujold, because I?m in love with Miles Vorkosigan (one of the main characters in her 12 novels), she builds fantastic, unique characters and her plots keep me riveted to the page. Diana Gabaldon with her Outlander series, for the same reasons. Anne McCaffrey, with her Dragons of Pern series; the first three Dune books by Frank Herbert; classic fairy tales by various authors; Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?s Sherlock Holmes stories; Shel Silverstein?s children?s poems (delightfully silly and fun); Robert Heinlein?s Stranger in a Strange Land (because I can relate to Michael); JRR Tolkein?s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings (because he?s a genius and I can live in Middle Earth while I read his masterpiece); David Weber?s Honor Harrington series, (because I love strong women as leading characters). In general: history, geography, books on Native American culture, books about words and their origins, books about renewable energy and the environment.

Cisco advances on HP with blades spinning

May 26, 2011

By Ted Samson | InfoWorld

Last March, HP CEO L?o Apotheker dismissed Cisco as neither a threat nor even an annoyance in the battle for server market share. Responding to Cisco's claims that its UCS system was enjoying rapid sales growth, Apotheker said, "They must be selling on planet Zircon."

Whether or not the Zirconians are, in fact, buying Cisco servers isn't clear. What is evident, however, is that Cisco is seeing more and more Earth-based organizations investing in its UCS x86 blades. According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker, Cisco now holds the third-largest share of the blade server market in terms of factory revenue -- not too bad a showing, considering its relatively late arrival to the party in 2009, compared to market leader HP, second-place IBM, and now fourth-place holder Dell.

Yes, HP is still the blade king, mind, claiming a full 50 percent of the market for the quarter, according to IDC. IBM came in a distant second with 20.2 percent of the pie. Cisco's slice represented 9.4 percent, while Dell finished with 8.4 percent of total factory revenue for blades.

Cisco to HP: Can you UCS now?
What's striking, however, are Cisco's gains in the blade market, relative to its competitors, since diving in back in 2009. Worldwide, Cisco locked in 10.5 percent of the market share, while HP dropped from 54.2 percent to 48.4 percent; IBM dipped from 26.8 percent to 20 percent; and Dell remained flat at 9.3 percent.

Cisco has seen even great growth in the United States, grabbing 19.7 percent of the blade market since Q2 of 2009. HP's portion dropped nearly 11 percent from 56.7 percent to 45.8. IBM saw a drop of 8.6 percent, from 27.1 to 18.5 percent. Dell saw a small bump, up from 10.8 percent to 12.2 percent.

The question, then, is what has drawn Cisco's current list of 5,400 blade server customers (up from 900 in Q3 of 2010) to sign on with a company that's better known for networking. Blades sales are smoking hot right now, with revenue growing at twice the rate of the total markets, according to IDC Enterprise Servers Research Manager Jed Scaramella: "Blades represent a higher-value sale for server vendors, being increasingly deployed in converged systems to support virtual environments. The larger memory footprints and I/O interconnects needed have resulted in a continual increase in average selling prices for blade systems."

Twin Cities Take Top Ranking for Healthy Living

TUESDAY, May 24 (HealthDay News) ? Exercising more and smoking
less are two of the main reasons why residents of Minneapolis-St. Paul
find their city is now the top-ranked in the United States for healthy
living.

Every year, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) ranks the 50
healthiest and fittest metropolitan areas in the United States, using the
American Fitness Index (AFI). Although kicking the habit was a big part of
why the Twin Cities unseated Washington D.C. from the No. 1 spot in 2011,
moderate-to-low rates of chronic health problems such as obesity, asthma,
heart disease and diabetes also factored into the city?s high score (77.2
out of 100 possible points).

Moreover, Minneapolis-St. Paul?s percentage of park land is above
average, as is its share of recreational facilities. More farmers markets
also popped up in the city this past year. These trends tend to indicate
residents there are moving towards healthier lifestyles and eating habits,
the ACSM noted.

Trailing behind Minneapolis-St. Paul to round out the AFI?s top five
slots are the following cities:

  • Washington D.C., with a score of 76.8
  • Boston, with a score of 69.1
  • Portland, Ore., with a score of 67.7
  • Denver, with a score of 67.6

At the opposite end of the index, Memphis, Tenn., Louisville, Ken. and
Oklahoma City ranked lowest. The cities received scores of 32.9, 29 and
24.6, respectively.

Still, the report noted that whether they landed at the top of the list
or at the bottom, each city had its strengths and weaknesses when it comes
to health and fitness.

?The scores and rankings from the report indicate which metro areas are
more fit, and which ones are less fit,? Walter Thompson, chair of the AFI
advisory board, said in an ACSM news release. ?Although Minneapolis
ranked first, there is room for improvement. At the same time, even the
lowest-ranked areas have healthy residents and community resources
supporting health and fitness.?

Thompson added the report should serve as either a needed wake-up call
or a source of positive re-enforcement for city leaders.

?A regular, scientific evaluation of the infrastructure, community
assets, policies and opportunities which encourage healthy and fit
lifestyles is imperative for cities wishing to provide a high quality of
life for residents,? Thompson said. ?Community health leaders and
advocates in each metro area can use the AFI data report to easily
identify their strengths and areas of opportunity.?

?There are no quick fixes when it comes to improving the health of an
entire metro area,? Dr. Wesley Wong, a member of the AFI advisory board,
said in the news release.

HP thinks the TouchPad will be 'better than number one,' if that's even possible

HP's expectations for its new TouchPad tablet are running pretty high -- so high, in fact, that they can only be expressed with a make-believe number. During a recent press conference in Cannes, HP's Eric Cador boldly declared that his company's new slate won't just be the best on the market, it'll be the bestest. Cador explained:

"In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP's products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we're going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus."

A spokesman later confirmed that the device will launch in the UK with apps from the Guardian, Sky and Last.fm, but promised that "thousands" of other apps are on the way. The metrics might sound a bit optimistic, but the message is clear: HP thinks the TouchPad will annihilate the iPad and blow our minds to smithereens. We'll just have to wait and see whether it's as explosive as advertised.
